I have a sulfite allergy that isn’t included on the allergy list. Sulfites occur naturally in some foods and are added in others. Sulfites are used as a preservative, a bleaching agent (flour, rice, sugar), a drying agent (dried fruit), as a “dough conditioner”, and as a retardant of mold. It can be quite tricky trying to find things that do not have sulfites as it is often a “hidden ingredient”. Having additional information would be very helpful.

I also have a long time allergy with sulfite. At first I found it was used mostly on salads and dried fruit but now it is being added to processed food and it is not being listed as an ingredient. I could use all the help I can in keeping it out of my diet.

I’m in the process of adding sulfite. I’ll add reply to this thread when I have uploaded the new content to the site.

I have added the “Sulfites” allergen under the Miscellaneous category. Please update your allergen list to take advantage of this.

The ingredients that I linked to sulfites were gathered mainly from the following sites:

http://www.allergycapital.com.au/Pages/sulphites.html

I not only have an allergy to sulphites but to nitrates as well. This is a product to preserve all lunch meats and hot dogs etc. I notice such a big difference in my life avoiding this one. I made only one mistake eating something with it in it (after I knew I had the allergy)and never again will I go near it.
