After years of strange health problems we learned that all four of my boys and my husband are allergic to all diary and tomatoes. They want pizza. They yearn for pizza. I have figured out how to make a ‘fauxmato’ sauce based on the ‘mock’ marinara recipe. Any ideas about a cheese substitute? We can’t do soy, peanut, or palm kernal oil either. I don’t need the texture of the cheese, just a similar flavor. Thanks.

Some people think Nutritional Yeast has a cheese-y flavor to it. You can make a roux then add a Tablespoon of Nutritional Yeast (or more), until you reach the desired flavor. Pour it over the crust and sauce and bake.

Rice-based cheese is available at some health-food stores. It’s a little pricey, but can be a nice treat!

With making homemade pizza myself I have had to be very creative. As far as sauses, I find that a good garlic sause is good. Basically use olive oil and diced garlic, spread it on your dough and add topings. As far as the cheese goes, you’ll probably have to go to a health food store or section of a major grocery and get lactose free cheeses. Hope this helps
