I need to find a mayonaise that is soy free. Does anyone have a recipe or know of one on the store shelves?
Thanks!

I wish I had my cookbooks with me! Making your own mayo is VERY easy. It’s something like this… 1 cup oil (choose which you can use) 1/4 cup lemon juice 1 egg All you do is put the juice and egg in a food processor/blender, whirl it around and then add the oil SLOWLY. It will take on a thickened, wonderful mayo consistency! I’m not sure about the amounts, but I think they’re close. I have several cookbooks with the recipe and they’re all about the same. They say you can store it for a week in the ref. (using a very clean jar) but with my mold allergy, I don’t push it past 2 days. You can also add herbs and use it like a dip or sauce. Add basil and use it on almost anything, or add celery seed, etc. If this recipe doesn’t work, it’s because my amounts aren’t right, but I think they are!

Has anybody tried the above mayo? It should have been 3 T. lemon juice instead of 1/4 cup. (I don’t think it would make much difference.) But, I’ll post the recipe on the site in a minute!

I found this one on Yahoo however, I too need one that is soy-free and all the almond milk I’ve ever seen has soy in it. And I don’t know what stevia is…anyone??
1 cup almond or unflavored soy milk 1 tbsp each of onion powder and sea salt 1/4 tsp stevia white powdered extract juice of 1 lemon 2 cups of cold pressed oil ( safflower, canola, etc)
Combine soy milk, onion powder, salt,Stevia, and lemon juice in a food processor fitted with a metal blade. Process for about 30 seconds then slowly add the oil as you continue processing. Longer processing will result in a thicker mayonaise.

I like the idea of making a mayo-type product without raw egg. (But, we have chickens, so I know our eggs are fresh. Mold is my problem, and eggs which aren’t fresh cause me problems.) Stevia is a VERY sweet herb which you can grow or purchase in powder form. It’s in the composite (lettuce) family. Every health food store will have it.

Hi Launa, My daughter has wheat/soy allergies. We use Spectrum brand Canola Mayonnaise. I found it in the natural/organic section of our local Kroger store. It’s online too, I know. I think it tastes great. We use it on sandwiches, chicken salad, you name it. I used it for develed eggs at a family get-together & no one noticed it that it was different. :) All I know is that it beats making it myself!! Good luck! Nicki

Hi Luana, The first soy free mayo I have tried is Safflower oil mayo and it is good. I bought it from The Better Health food store. You can find them online if their not in your area. Now that I see recipes, I think I will try to make my own next time.

Hi, This is a recipe that I have used for mayonnaise that tastes good and works. 3 egg yokes, 1 tsp salt, 3/4 tsp dry mustard, 1/2 tsp paprika, couple shakes of white pepper, 2 Tbs lemon juice, 2 cups canola oil, 2 Tbs water. 1) Place 1st 6 ingredientes in food processor. Mix thouroghly with several short pulses, scraping sides of bowl between pulses. 2) On full power gradually add 1/2 of the oil until thickened. Then add water. 3) continue to slowly add remaining oil. 4) Refrigerate before serving. The recipe was adapted from Jane K Stevens Recipe From Applehood & Motherpie, handpicked recipies from Upstate NY.
This does make about 2-3 cups of mayo, if you don’t use it frequently you will need to reduce the recipe otherwise you may find in about 3 weeks mold growing. Enjoy
