About us
A couple years ago, I was feeling miserable. I had migraines, was constantly tired, and had asthma. I suspected the cause was outside allergens, but when I finally visited an allergist, the results were not what I was expecting. To my surprise, my main allergies were to 20 foods, most of which were in my everyday diet!
My doctor informed me that this could be causing most, if not all, of my health issues. I was very excited that I could take a positive step in ridding myself of these problems... until starting the daunting task of eliminating my favorite foods from my diet. Wandering through the supermarket, looking at every single label, I came to realize even unsuspecting foods could make me sick. I was quickly overwhelmed and thought there was nothing left for me to eat. I had no idea where to start.
A few cookbooks later and hours staring at labels, I was slowly able to avoid my problem foods. My long term health problems slowly diminished and only flared up if I ate an allergen-ridden food. However, since I am not a cook at heart, I quickly got tired of having to come up with my own allergy-free recipes. There were no websites to fit my needs. When my friend eventually had the idea for this page, I thought it would be a fantastic way to help others with food allergies. He thought it would be great for anyone to get new cooking ideas, whether they had allergies or not.
